THE GREEN LIGHT is always open online. Our blog categorizes posts for editing tips, citation and bibliography, style, various Valpo courses, creative writing, and even humor. Posts will reflect our collective experience as writers at Valpo.

Your writing . . .Our pleasure.

Since most college writing is a communicative act, discuss ideas and drafts with a reader as you go long. At the Writing Center you’ll find readers happy to confer, question, and advise.

We offer conferences face-to-face, by email, and  IM with trained peer consultants and professional staff. Last year over 450 students—undergrads and graduate students—conferred with us.

How fast will I hear from you if I email?

Generally we respond to email within 24 hours, though we do not work on Saturdays. At mid-semester and semester’s end the response time may be longer. Face-to-face conferences have priority.

Who works at the Writing Center?

Fourteen students, both undergraduate and graduate, all excellent writers from many majors and programs who meet weekly for further training and a professional director with more than 25 years experience at Valpo teaching writing courses and assisting students.
