We have several free public offerings for the community to come join us in observing using both the VU telescope and the SARA telescope.

SCHEDULE – Winter/Spring 2012

 

The Department of Physics & Astronomy, Valparaiso University continues its series of public astronomy programs for Winter/Spring 2012.  In addition to our regular Observatory Open House program we plan to give a popular, illustrated public talk on one of these evenings at 7:30 pm.  Each evening will include telescope viewing at the VU Observatory (clear nights) or a constellation program at the VU Planetarium (cloudy nights).  These are free and the public is invited.

OBSERVATORY: On the clear nights, viewing will be carried out with the VU computer-controlled telescope.  Come and enjoy views of the moon, planets, star clusters and galaxies. Call 464-5202 or visit this website after 5 p.m. on these dates to confirm if the weather is clear enough for the Observatory to open. The schedule and maps are also available on the above web site.  (Groups should make separate arrangements by calling 464-5369.)

 

SARA OBSERVING:  On Feb. 3 the public is invited to join us in Neils Science Center 234 from 9:30 p.m. -10:30 p.m. in observing remotely with the SARA telescope in Chile.
