Document Delivery
What is document delivery?
Document delivery is a service whereby distance students, faculty, and staff serviced by Christopher Center Library Services can receive electronic delivery of campus-owned journal articles located in the CCLIR.
In addition, as of the fall 2008 semester, we are running a pilot project for microform items for all students (not just distance students). Access Services, in cooperation with Interlibrary Loan, has launched this pilot project designed to electronically deliver selected articles and documents from the library’s collection of microform materials. For more information about this pilot, click here.

Article Delivery to Off-Campus/ Distance Learning Students and Faculty on Sabbatical
Valparaiso University Christopher Center Library Services provides free-of-charge article photocopying services for items we own for off-campus students and faculty who meet one of these criteria:
-
For (non-law) students: You live 30 or more miles from Valparaiso and you do not come to campus to attend class
-
For (non-law) faculty: You are on sabbatical and living at least 30 or more miles from Valparaiso
- For (non-law) faculty: You are teaching abroad at one of VU's International Study programs
To use this service, please follow these steps:
- Please complete the online Application Form (www.valpo.edu/library/forms/docdelivery.html). We will not process any requests until we have the Application form on file and it has been approved. You will be notified when your application is approved.
- Use ILLiad to place article requests. This is the same system used
for Interlibrary Loan.
- If you have not done so already, register for ILLiad.
- Be sure to select "Distance Graduate", "Distance Undergraduate", or “Distance Faculty” as applicable, under Status. This is our signal to process your requests as document delivery items.
If you have any questions about document delivery, please contact us at 219-464-5363 or ill (at) valpo.edu .
How long does it take?
Please allow five working days for your article to be delivered. We cannot process rush orders.
Once I am accepted into the Document Delivery program, how long will my application last?
For students, applications are good until the end of the semester in which you apply. Each semester, you will need to reapply. For faculty, we ask you at the time of your application when your sabbatical/time abroad ends, and you will only need to apply once.
Important copyright notice
Staff reserve the right to refuse a photocopy order if that order is judged to be beyond the "fair use" exemptions of the United States Copyright Law (Title 17, USC).
Book Delivery to Off-Campus/ Distance Learning Students and Faculty on Sabbatical
We do not have a book delivery service at this time. If you live in Indiana, you can apply for an ALI card at the circulation desk in the Christopher Center (http://www.valpo.edu/library/ali.html). Once you have this card, you may check out books from most Indiana academic libraries at no charge to you. To see a full list of participating libraries, see link above.
