GUILD CAMPUS GIFTS GRANT PROGRAM

The Guild is honored to announce the recipients of the 2007 Guild Campus Gift grants.  Over $25,000 was awarded to 12 academic or campus departments.  These grants are one way the Guild members benefit the well-being of Valparaiso University students and the campus environment.

  • Wireless - Diaconal Center –Lutheran Deaconess Association
  • Mueller Hall Benches – Christ College
  • Reutlingen Equipment – International Studies
  • Astronomy Lab Renovations – Physics and Astronomy
  • River Monitoring Equipment – Biology
  • Mock Trial Programs – Communication
  • Education Trip Fellowships – Education
  • Strength Training Air Conditioning Unit – Athletics
  • Mobile Videoconference Unit – Information Technology

This year, the Guild received 42 proposals in 2007 totalling $117,000 in requests.  The Guild board narrowed the selections to the 20 proposals that most closely met the goals of the Guild while specifically identifying new areas to support.  Over 400 members returned ballots indicating their preferences.  The Guild Board of Directors verified the membership's vote at its meeting in October.

Campus departments and student organizations are welcome to apply for the 2008 grants using the following timeline.

Grant Timeline:

March 31     Applications due
May             Applications juried by the Guild Board of Directors
Summer        Members review proposals and return ballot
September    Tellers tally ballots
October        Guild Board of Directors reviews results & allocates funds for grants

. Recipients and non-recipients will learn if the grant proposal has been accepted in October, or before.
. 2008 grant funds must be spent between October 2008-June 30, 2009.
. Departments or programs receiving grants will be expected to report to the Guild with information on when and how the grant was used, for future Guild publications.
