Program Description
Graduates of this joint degree program between the College of Nursing and the College of Business Administration receive both the MSN and MBA degrees. The curriculum prepares nurse leaders with a unique blend of nursing, administration, and leadership skills. Admission to the program is selective and requires that the applicant meet the standard admission criteria of the CON, CBA, and the Graduate Division.

Criteria for Admission
Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Graduate Division, which include:- A BSN degree with a 3.0 GPA from an accredited nursing education program;
- Evidence of having completed an undergraduate research course and statistics course.
- Evidence of an Indiana registered nursing license.
International applicants must also have:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 550 (paper version), 230 (computer-based), or Internet Based Test (TOEFL iBT) score of at least 80; minimum IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6; CET score of 6, or an INTERLINK Language Center Level 5, or the equivalent for non-native English speakers;
- Satisfactory completion of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) examination or evidence of a National Council Licensure examination (NCLEX) License.
As part of the application process, students must provide:
- Valparaiso University Graduate Application and Supplemental MSN/MBA Joint Degree Application;
- Two letters of recommendation;
- Certified transcripts of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited nursing program;
- Results of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) for admission to the MBA program;
- Application Fee: $30 for U.S. citizens and $50 for international applicants.
