Professor Martin Buinicki's book Walt Whitman's Reconstruction: Poetry and Publishing Between Memory and History has been published by the University of Iowa Press. 

The book examines Whitman's post-civil-war writing, publication efforts, and status as a celebrity amid his own and national efforts to remember the war.
