Course Description: 

Strategies for Academic Success is a seminar designed for students who want to enhance their academic achievement by strengthening their learning strategies and study skills.  Through focused discussion on course materials, peer interaction, skill development, self-assessment, visits to campus resources, and other activities, students will identify the best practices for achieving their college goals.  Freshman students may find the fall course particularly helpful with adjustment challenges as they make the transition to college life.

  • Connecting to campus academic support resources

General Course Information:

  • 1 credit hour
  • Content focuses on tools from Becoming a Master Student by Dave Ellis.
  • Course meets for a total of 12 class sessions, plus 4 hours outside of class time for Visit Days to campus resources.
  • Offered in the first and second 7-week periods in the fall semester and repeated in the first 7-week period in the spring.
